The best countries to live in for expats 2016

HSBC have recently released the results of their annual Expat Explorer Survey asking expats from 190 different countries their experiences of life as an expat. The top five countries are listed below:

Switzerland

Fifth in the poll, Switzerland is seen as the country for the best long term investments. The survey found that expats living in Switzerland were able to save faster than the global average.

Czech Republic

Participants felt that the Czech Republic offered their children a quality education. Also that the country provided them with a great family life, second only to Sweden.

Canada

Particularly praised for its culture of tolerance. 69% of those taking part found Canada to be welcoming to all and that they felt more secure than in their home country.

New Zealand

Voted second was New Zealand. The expats who took part felt that living here gave them a great quality day to day life. Also that it was easy to integrate into their communities and get settled. It was also said that there is so much to see and do. The survey also noted that New Zealanders living outside of the country miss home so much that there is even a devoted hotline to help their homesickness!

Singapore

Singapore was voted the best country in the world! Expats living in the country believed it to be politically and economically stable and that it gave them security in settling down there. They also said they found it to be a personally safe country for travelling around and living. Four out of five expats felt they were safer in Singapore than in their home country.
