Not all expats live in a bubble

How do you imagine the life abroad, hanging out with other expats or with locals? Data suggests expats don’t stick together as much as we might think.

Despite having a natural tendency to communicate with people from our own country when we are abroad, expats integrate and mingle with local residents as much as they do with their own country nationals. The latest Expat Insider Survey, carried out among 13,000 expatriates representing 166 nationalities and living in 188 countries, indicated that a majority of them (48%) have a social circle formed by both, locals and expats.

However, differences might emerge depending on the exact country you are relocating too.
