The education system in the UK is open to anyone with the right entry requirements. School begins in September and ends in July.

Many families favour private or independent schools (called 'Public schools' in the UK) as state schools have catchment areas for residents. You need to apply for private schooling early.

The educational system in London is of a high standard, however as a general rule, the better schools tend to be in the more affluent areas.
The standard of public healthcare in the UK is one of the best in the world. It offers a National Health Service (NHS), which is the main public healthcare system. Your eligibility depends on your residence status in the UK. When you register for NHS treatment, you'll need identification in the form of a passport and proof of address.

If you are paying tax or National Insurance in the UK, you will need to apply for a National lnsurance Number. This will also allow you assistance with the NHS.
A wide variety of housing is available in the UK - from flats and apartments to large executive homes in exclusive surroundings.

When searching for a place to live in one of the UK cities, consider proximity to work and schools, facilities for kids such as playgrounds and leisure centres, parking restrictions, local transport facilities and traffic congestion.
In London, people do drive to work, but you can easily get by without a car due to the fantastic public transport system. If you do choose to drive, you should be aware of parking restrictions, and the toll to drive into the centre of the city during the week.

Hong Kong residents who have a residence visa can continue to drive with their Hong Kong license in the first year of living in the UK, and they can apply for the conversion of the Hong Kong license to the British license after 185 days of residence.
