New rule for in-country applications in Pune

To improve the territory’s security and reduce potential over-stayers in India, effective immediately, it is mandatory for all foreign nationals to complete a biometric process for all in-country applications including resident permits, visa extension, FRO registrations and other in-country related applications at the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) in Pune. A similar arrangement is expected to be expanded to other FROs and Foreign Regional Registration Offices (FRRO) in the coming future.

Foreigners are required to provide their fingerprints and eye scans during the process and this is likely to increase the overall time for application processing.

Crown India will monitor this development and provide updates once they become available.

Remark: The affected foreigners should make note of the new requirement and be prepared for lengthier processing time.
