Since the beginning of May, sponsoring employers have been given the opportunity to apply for work permits – even when they do not meet the required Bahrainization ratio and do not have the sufficient number of local employees.
An additional fee of 300 BHD must be paid for the application process. The Labour Market Regulatory Authority predicts that a similar opportunity might be given to employers non-compliant with Bahrainization seeking work permit renewals for employees from April 2017.
