Crown Mumbai Participates in the Standard Chartered Bank Mumbai Marathon

The Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) Mumbai Marathon is India's biggest charitable event with participation from 38,000 runners this year.  The event raises funds for various causes, including environmental protection, child education, and women’s rights. This year's event was held on January 20.  The 2013 SCB Mumbai marathon offered three categories: Full marathon (42 Kilometers), Half Marathon (21 Kilometers) and Dream Run (6 Kilometers).

Fifteen runners from Crown Worldwide Mumbai participated in the marathon in the Dream Run category. The team raised INR 2,25,000 for Teach For India, a project of Teach To Lead, a nationwide movement of outstanding college graduates and young professionals who commit to two years of full-time teaching in under-resourced schools. The Crown India team trained for six months leading up to the event.

Crown Worldwide Group has been a strong supporter of the Standard Charter Marathon event worldwide. Last year, Jennifer Harvey represented Crown Hong Kong in the SCB Hong Kong Marathon and took home the Leaders Cup. Funds were raised to support the “Seeing is Believing” campaign, SCB's global fundraising initiative launched in 2003 with the aim of helping sight restoration, promoting eye care education and eliminating avoidable blindness in China and other developing countries. Crown Dubai also participated in the 2012 SCB Dubai Marathon and helped raise funds for the Dubai Autism Center. Crown plans to continue its commitment to improving the communities it operates in by returning to next year's marathon with the same support, sensitivity and attention to an equally worthy cause.
