A recent study by the New York Times discovered that many industries are embracing remote work. This research suggests working remotely is becoming increasingly popular. This expanding opportunity for travel beyond professions that require you to travel. We've listed both types below:

Airline pilot

There aren't many professions that present the opportunities for overseas living that this one does. Being a pilot is a very rewarding career, both financially and in terms of relocation opportunities. Varying from country to country, flight pilots will spend time abroad whilst working, earning significantly above the average salary varies between US$ 30,000 to over US$ 150,000 depending on seniority, aircraft and airline. Furthermore, a recent news article by Reuters, shows there is a demand for global pilots.

Pilots don't just get to travel frequently as a matter of course. Many relocate abroad to the home base of their employer. For example, Dubai for Emirates pilots, or Cathay Pacific for Hong Kong. Many more choose to live elsewhere, subsidized by major airlines, and travel into their home base for work.

ESL teaching

ESL (English as a second language) teachers are in high demand both at home and abroad. When you take a job as an ESL teacher it is an opener to a foreign country's culture. This profession usually sees teachers fly from the UK and US to Asia to teach. The demand for ESL teachers is increasing in countries such as Vietnam, China, Japan and South Korea. However, both professions require international relocation.

Digital Nomad

Digital nomad are a type of people who use laptops and smartphones to earn a living and, more generally, conduct their life in a 'nomadic manner.' Such work remotely from foreign countries, coffee shops, public libraries, co-working spaces, or recreational vehicles. Digital nomads usually are involved in online advertising, website development, and social media. Succesful digital nomads typically have a financial cushion.

Being a digital nomad doesn't mean you have to be self-employed. You can, in fact, become a digital nomad while working for another company remotely, as we mentioned above this is becoming increasingly popular.

The hospitality industry is massive with many opportunities for employees to travel, find work all over the world and experience life in a new cultural surroundings. This hospitality industry is a board category of fields within the service industry that includes lodging, event planning, theme parks, transportation, cruise line and additional fields within the tourism industry. Hotel groups are some the world's biggest employers after all!
