Midnight has been named as finalist in the Business to Business or Trade campaign category at the national Fresh PR Awards, with winners due to be announced in Manchester on October 8.

The golden Crown campaign included founder Jim Thompson presenting Mayor of Yokohama, Fumiko Hayashi, with a gift to mark the birthplace of the company in her city in 1965.

A “human 50” staff photo competition encouraged staff interaction in offices around the globe, while a video of Jim Thompson’s “birthday push-ups” in Hong Kong was a big hit online.

Overall, the campaign reached audiences in more than 200 countries with an estimated circulation of more than a billion, including interviews with Jim Thompson on CNN, the BBC World Service, Entrepreneur and the South China Morning Post.

Midnight Communications has a history of success at the Fresh PR Awards, which were launched in 2003, winning six medals in the last six years – including gold awards in 2014 and 2009.

These latest nominations continue a successful year for the Brighton-based company, which has also been shortlisted for six awards at the forthcoming CIPR PRide Awards 2015.

Midnight Communications is Crown Worldwide’s PR partner in the UK and Ireland for Crown World Mobility, Crown Records Management and Crown Fine Art.
