Where are the best education systems in the world?

Have you been offered a job assignment abroad but you are concerned about whether or not it is a good destination for your child, in particular of his or her education? You should not worry! All global cities have a wide range of international schools which ensure global and consistent education standards. They are multicultural and they are used to support children who have just relocated to a new country.

But what if you would like your child to be enrolled in a local school so they can have a more immersive experience into the local culture? Which countries offer the best education systems?

1. Finland

This Nordic country is well-known for the quality of its education. Despite entering the school relatively late compared with other countries – Finnish children start attending school at the age of seven – they score extremely highly in international evaluations such as the PISA report, and 70% of expats in the country consider the Finnish education system 'excellent' according to the latest Internations Survey. What makes the Finnish system different? It might be the fact that no matter the students' abilities, they are all in the same class. So the students who complete an exercise sooner can help the other ones who struggle the most. It could also be the quality of teaching –becoming a teacher is a long and tough process in Finland. Or just the unique weather conditions that help children focus more on studying!

2. Switzerland

Even though Switzerland is well-known for its international schools, only 5% of Swiss children attend private schools. In fact, Switzerland’s public education system is also one of the best worldwide.  The diversity of national languages means that children are taught in different languages (French, German or Italian), according to the region they live in, and they learn the other national languages, including English, as secondary languages. However, as opposed to the Finnish system, students in Switzerland are distributed in different school types from secondary level onwards.

3. Singapore

This Asian country obtains incredibly good results in international evaluations and according to the latest Internations Survey, 53% of the expats consider its education system to be 'excellent'. However, it is worth noting that the Singapore school system has a high cost compared with other systems.
