Case Study Fine ArtMr. and Mrs. Andries Finken relocated to Dubai and their biggest challenge was to move their extremely valuable Fine Art collection. This was their biggest worry and their concern surrounded the very old, large and irreplaceable items in their collection.

They contacted Leon Thom from Crown Fine Art in Johannesburg and after a survey of the collection and the preparation of a detailed inventory the couple decided to do the relocation with Crown Fine Art Johannesburg.

Mr Finken, “We were reassured by the professional way Leon conducted the survey and decided to move with Crown. We just want to thank Leon Thom and his team for the excellent service, the continuous updates and the uninterrupted feedback that we received from Crown. Thank you for a job well done all of our valuable collection arrived in Dubai intact”.

Going the extra mile in mobility

Case Study Extra MileA few months ago one of my assignees had chosen her house in Parktown and couldn't wait to finally make it her home. She was extremely excited to be moving in and the day that her furniture arrived she had a very important meeting and couldn't be there to receive her goods. I offered to go there to meet with the removal company as I knew her house and wanted to assist as much as possible. I took my maid along and whilst the boxes were being unloaded we directed them to the correct rooms.

My maid also started to unpack the crockery and kitchen items, wash them and pack them away. We worked most of the day and when the assignee finally managed to get away from her meeting she came to the house. Much to her surprise she found her kitchen sorted out and ready to use. Needless to say she was extremely happy!

Another example of help being offered is when an assignee found a house and had to take occupation immediately. His furniture was still being shipped and would only arrive in three weeks’ time. He mentioned he would sleep in a sleeping bag that was left there and just go and buy some essential items.

I felt really sorry for him and offered to loan him some items. That night my husband hitched our trailer to the car and we loaded our patio table and four chairs on to it. I also took some sheets, blankets, towels, pots and other crockery items I felt he might be able to use. His family arrived soon afterwards and they all used the items. They were very grateful for the help!

There are of course many other times I have made the wives feel welcome and nearly always introduce them to someone I feel they would get on with. I have also arranged outings for them such as a visit to Pretoria where I have escorted them and showed them around. I also enjoy taking them to shopping areas which I know they normally wouldn't frequent, to show them the diversity of Johannesburg!
