Things NOT to take to Australia

When we are planning a relocation, we think about all the items we should not forget, search for “must-take” lists and ask the experts (friends who have been there, other expats in the country or our moving services team) the most important objects to take with us. But what about those things we should NOT take?

A relocation is an important step and packaging and moving only those things that matter and are important to us is essential – both for time and price savings. This is especially relevant for long distance move, such as moving from Spain to Australia.

So, let’s have a look at the things you should not take to Australia!

Winter clothes
Not taking winter clothes. Why? Because Australia is a warm country!
During the summer it is likely that you find average temperatures around 25 degrees in the major cities while during the winter the minimums are likely to not fall below 5 or 7 degrees.
So, which clothes should you take with you? The ski ones for sure not!

Table games
Sometimes we think we should take some games to play during the Sunday afternoon, especially in winter. But do you really need them in Australia?
Probably not. With a mild weather and an open-minded and friendly people, Australians love to “live” in the open-air. Barbecues, festivals or outdoor sports (from cycling to playing cricket or with a boomerang) are common activities to do in the free time. So, do you really it is worth to take all your table games?

Lip balm
With some controversy, Lucas’ Papaw Ointment is by far, the most popular ointment in Australia. Created in Brisbane in 1910, this product is used by a big number of Australians for minor burns, insect bites or as a lip balm.
