Top moving destinations in 2016 for expatriates

Are you planning an international move from Spain to a new dream destination? We recommend to review the results of the recent Expat Insider survey from Internations. This major social network and information portal for people who live and work abroad has recently conducted a survey among 14000 expatriates worldwide asking for a city where they would preferably like to move to. Following is the outcome: New York City ranks on top, followed by the following preferred moving destinations: London, Barcelona, Sydney, San Francisco, Paris, Singapore, Dubai, Amsterdam and Rome.

Interestingly, about half of the 50 most popular expat cities are located in English-speaking countries. In addition to the top ten cities New York, London and Sydney, the following further  English-speaking relocation destinations received a high score from expatriates: Melbourne (11th position), Vancouver (13th position), Los Angeles (14th position), Auckland (16th position),  Miami (17th position) being all part of the top 20 cities, and followed by additional cities such as Seattle, Boston, Dublin and Edinburgh.

The gender seems to be also relevant when naming the preferred city to relocate to: Female respondents gave high rankings to cities such as Rome (7th position), Berlin (9th position) and Cape Town (10th position), while these destinations did not appear in the male top ten. Men consider rather the following destinations attractive: Singapore (5th position), Dubai (7th position) and Vancouver (9th position).

Furthermore, the age of the expats is also relevant for their preferences: Expatriates from the generation 50+ prefer tropical destinations, giving high ratings to cities such as Bangkok and Honolulu.
