New facilities at British International School of Stockholm

Are you a parent expat moving to Sweden? If so, we have great news … New facilities at British International School of Stockholmthe British International School of Stockholm (BISS) has now opened its new school facility to expand the education from 1 to 16 years old.

Since is opening in 1980, The British International School has accommodated children from families that have been relocated to Sweden, especially from USA, UK and Canada, and has also been an election for local families due to their high academic standards, caring environment and high quality.

Originally called the British Primary School, they updated the name to The British International Primary School of Stockholm in August 2000, before removing the word ”primary” when the school expanded to include secondary children, in 2014. The name reflects the fact that they are a truly international school with over 45 nationalities represented among pupils. Additionally, although the British curriculum underpins learning in Literacy and Mathematics, they now base much of the curriculum around the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), the Middle Years Curriculum (MYC) and IGCSE Curriculum, further developing an international learning focus for all the children.

The foundation years primary school students, nursery and reception and students up to year four, are still in the original part of the school in Altorp at Djursholm. The older students, from year five to  year eight, have moved into the new facilities at the new site in Ekeby at Djursholm, just behind Danderyds Gymnasium. The outside playground is due to open very soon, news that exciting for the younger students.
