Urban Lifestyle: moving abroad to the best cities

Another interesting findings from the recent Expat Insider survey by InterNations are now out. If you are planning an international move from Switzerland to another interesting city, check the new urban life ratings. According to that the most preferred international cities to move to are Melbourne, followed by Houston and Madrid. The top ten list of best cites to live is completed by Düsseldorf (4th position), Singapore (5th), Vienna (6th), Munich (7th), Sydney (8th), Mexico City (9th) and Toronto (10th). To outline for the Swiss audience that 3 top ten cities are German speaking.
 
During this survey, international professionals across the world were asked to rate 35 cities that are common destinations for expatriates. Main factors to consider were quality of life, cost of living, ease of settling in, political stability, healthcare and professional work conditions/career opportunities. The rating scale was from 1 to 7.
 
The winner Melbourne ranks first in particular for its excellent settling in and working conditions, despite a relatively low score in cost of living (24th out of 35 cities). Second ranked Houston (Texas) is attractive for having a friendly local population and low cost of living. In fact, 72% of the respondents feel at home living in Houston. On the other hand, Houston was scored low for job security, only 3 of 10 people feel secure with their job. Madrid as 3rd best city stands out for excellent quality life, it actually ranks on position 2 for it, while for the factor safety Madrid received a relatively low ranking (21th position), as well as the factor career opportunities (29th).
Finally, to mention that Riyadh is ranked on position 35 out of expat 35 cities.
