Getting to know our team, Sean Bintley

We spoke to our Residential Consultant, Sean Bintley about his experience working for Crown Relocations and his top tips to help you plan your next international move.

How long have you been working for Crown Relocations?

I cannot believe it has gone so fast, but I am now in my seventh year with Crown Relocations.

Have you moved internationally yourself?

Yes I have, my first relocation was my move to Dubai.

What lessons did you discover from your own move?

Working in the industry I had an idea of what to expect. All I can say is be prepared and know what your are taking and what you want to leave behind in advance.

How long have you lived in Dubai?

Two years exactly 😊

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like spending time with friends (My Dubai family as I call them). A good social life is necessary when you live in a foreign country without any family around. I also enjoy a good book and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

Can you explain more about what a Residential Consultant does?

A Residential Consultant is the representative who provides support and guidance to customers who are looking to relocate. As part of this, we provide information on shipment volume based on what the customer would like to take to their new location. Also best practice tips for packing and wrapping and customs clearance procedures and requirements. In essence we’re there to put our customers at ease and make sure their move runs smoothly should they move with Crown.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Crown?

I enjoy meeting new people every day and knowing that I’m a helping hand to families looking to make their new opportunities abroad a reality.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

While working in the Johannesburg office, I achieved many branch merit awards as a move manager assisting with import and export relocations throughout Africa and the Middle East. These include: Branch Merit Award 2015, Brand Value award 2016 – Determined and Brand Value Award 2017 – Sharing. Being recognised for the effort you put into your role is so rewarding.

What has been your favourite move to work on?

There are a few I can think of, but one that stand out is when I assisted a customer with a relocation from Johannesburg to Dubai that involved a lot of delicate artwork and sculptures. Moves like this everything needs to be handled with care and it was a great opportunity to witness our team in action and meet the customer’s needs.

What was the most challenging and how did you overcome them?

I had a relocation from Johannesburg, South Africa to Miami, USA for a shipment combined with about eight classic vehicles, antiques and large shipment of household goods. Team work made the dream work!
