Tracey and her husband decided to start a new and exciting adventure in Perth. Here is how they went about it!
Tracy Currie aged 38, husband Alan aged 41 are and their three and a half year old son Calvin from Livingston near Edinburgh are jetting off to start a new life in Perth, Australia in January 2014.
Tracy says: “We’ve visited Australia a few times now and we love the lifestyle and opportunities there are for us there. We have been to Sydney and Perth before but have decided to move to Perth as the area is better suited to our family’s way of life than Sydney.
I’m a hairdresser and Alan is a joiner so there will be plenty of work prospects for us as there’s a demand for skilled tradespeople in Perth. We will fly out in in January and intend to rent when we first arrive to allow us to get a feel for the area and decide where we want to lay down roots.
When we first decided that we were going to make the move, we naturally did lots of research and got a few quotes from companies who could help us with the relocation process - as it can be a daunting prospect. We decided to go with Crown Relocations and we haven’t regretted that decision. The representative from Crown was so upfront about everything from the outset, there were no hidden costs or extras and their knowledge and expertise was really beneficial to us.
Throughout the whole relocation process, the Crown team has been really helpful, from answering the many questions we have had along the way, to helping us dismantle and pack our belongings on the day we moved out of our house. We sold our house in Livingstone quicker than we anticipated, but Crown Relocations were really helpful and stored all our belongings ready to ship to Australia in the new year.
We moved in with my mum and her partner while we make the final arrangements for our move. Crown has really gone the extra mile for us throughout, they were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We always felt that we could ask if we were unsure of anything, which was really important to us - it’s a big step after all.
Our son Calvin has been at the heart of our all the decisions we’ve made. He’s our main concern in terms of where we decide to settle and what we are looking for when we get to there with regard to area, houses, leisure and schools.
In Perth the children start nursery school at age four so Calvin will start his nursery at the same time as the other children, he wont be the new child settling in to a new environment, it will be a new experience for all the children. That was an important factor for us to consider with regard to planning and timing our move.
We have been able to get Visa 190s which mean that we can go anywhere is Australia. It took ten months to get them and we had to take all sorts of tests to be able to get them but it’s worth it for the flexibility that we now have.
I’m confident that everything will continue to go to plan and be as smooth as it has been up to now. We are so excited about our new life; we love the outdoors, so the way of life in Perth will suit us perfectly. The scenery is almost as lovely as that in Scotland, but with the added bonus of better weather. We are looking forward to jetting off to warm and sunny Australia in January and embarking on the next chapter of our lives.”
