Our Shared Container Service is perfect for customers who do not need a full container. By combining your belongings with other Crown customers heading to similar destinations, you only pay for the space you use. Regular departures from the UK to UAE, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the US make it a fast and flexible option for international moves.

Frequently asked questions – Crown Relocations

Relocating within your country or overseas can be overwhelming from paperwork and packing to shipping and customs. Choosing the right relocation partner gives you peace of mind and ensures every step is handled professionally.

Crown Relocations has over 60 years of experience helping individuals and families move worldwide. Our CrownCare Transit Protection safeguards your belongings, while our global network and offices in popular destinations including the UAE, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the US make moving abroad seamless, especially for UK-based customers.

We recommend starting your move at least three months before your intended date. This allows time to secure visas, arrange transport and accommodation, and get an accurate, up-to-date quote.

Yes but it’s not always ideal. Starting too early can lead to changes that affect the accuracy of your quote or service plan.

Road Shipments

  • Direct Load – Packed, collected, and delivered on a specified date in a dedicated vehicle.
  • Part Load (Shared Load) – Share transport with other customers to reduce costs; delivery dates are more flexible.

Air Shipments

  • Charged by Actual Chargeable Weight (ACW) whichever is greater between actual weight and volumetric weight at departure.

Sea Shipments

  • Shared Container Services – Cost-effective for flexible timelines; available to UAE, US, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
  • FCL (Full Container Load) – A dedicated container for larger moves.
  • LCL (Less than Container Load) – Share space for smaller shipments at reduced cost.

Your shipment type is determined during your virtual consultation, based on volume and delivery flexibility.

Transit times vary depending on method, route, and external factors such as weather, customs delays, or peak seasons.

  • Air freight – Fastest, but may face airport congestion delays.
  • Sea freight – Cost-effective but may involve extra handling and consolidation steps.

We recommend building flexibility into your delivery schedule.

Includes:

  • All-inclusive door-to-door service
  • Export-strength cartons, tape, and packing materials
  • Delivery and collection as per our schedule
  • Shipment via shared container or air consolidation
  • Customs clearance and ground-floor delivery
  • Unpacking and debris removal

Excludes:

  • Professional packing, insurance, storage
  • Duties, taxes, and government charges
  • Delivery above ground floor
  • Quarantine or inspection fees (e.g., in Australia, New Zealand)
  • VAT (applies only to moves within the UK)

Possible additional costs include:

  • Port congestion, bonded storage, demurrage fees
  • Customs duties, taxes, quarantine inspections
  • Pre-delivery of packing materials, disposal services, non-standard access
  • Special services (hoists, weekend delivery, external lifts)
  • Fuel surcharges or freight rate changes (GRIs) after proposal date

To avoid unexpected charges, disclose all items during your virtual consultation.

Full payment is required 14 days before your first pack date. For moves booked within 14 days, payment is due at booking.

We accept debit and credit cards. Early payment ensures timely booking of third-party services such as crating, permits, or freight.
