Yes, there is, but the situation is improving. There are new schools coming up and the older ones are expanding. Contact Crown Ho Chi Minh City for assistance in selecting and applying to a school.

Are pre-schools also widely available (for children approx. 2 to 5 years old)?
Yes, nurseries, kindergartens and many play groups are available. There are some preschools that are part of the international schools (nursery). You also have SmartKids International Childcare
Centers.

Most children are transported by family car or school transport

The school year starts at the end of August and ends in late June, but this varies depending on the school.

Is there anything else I should know about local schools?
Normally, expatriates do not send their kids to the local schools due to the different level of education and curriculum and the language difficulties.
