Getting to know our team: Diego Bonizzoni

We spoke to our Sales Consultant, Diego Bonizzoni about his experience working for Crown Relocations and his top tips to help you plan your next international move.

Can you tell us a little about what your role entails?

As a residential sales consultant my job is to take care of the first steps of the move. This includes conducting any virtual or physical surveys to assess the move volume. I am then able to provide a quote for how much it would cost to get your shipment to your planned destination.

Moving is listed as one of the top stressors that a person can experience in a lifetime. My job is essentially to try and make the part of the customer’s move that I can effect as smooth as possible. Allowing them time to focus on all the other elements of an international move.

How long have you worked at Crown Relocations?

I joined the Crown family at the end of 2019. Only some months before the recent pandemic hit. However that hasn’t stopped me doing my job and I can proudly say that I have helped hundreds of families move all over the world.

What's been the highlight from your time at Crown so far?

Working for Crown Relocations allows me to get in contact with people from all over world. This in itself has been a highlight, getting to connect with people from so many different cultures. However the main highpoint for me has been seeing the customer reviews come in from those I’ve helped. It makes the job worthwhile to know I’ve made what could be a stressful situation for someone easier.

What is your top tip for a stress-free move?

Being organised as much as possible is my main piece of advice. Moving is stressful but it doesn’t have to be. If you make organisation a priority from day one, you’ll set yourself up for fewer headaches and an easier overall move.

What has been a challenging move to support and how did you overcome it?

Recently I supported a move that had a strict timeline because the customer had three children who were to start school in their new location. It was really important that everything was in place for them to start the new school term on time. Timing the arrival of the goods, the visa authorization, the work permit and tie in with the starting of the school was not an easy task. Through the hard work and synergy of all our experts in immigration, move, freight forwarding and last but not least our crew on the ground, we did manage to meet the client’s expectations.

What is your advice on settling into a new culture successfully?

The best tip I can give it is to keep an open mind. Being open minded will help with all new relationships you’ll be forming, it will also help in learning the destination country language: this aspect is crucial to be able to be a part of the new community.

If you didn’t live in Italy where in the world would you like to live?

One of my favourite quotes is “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” I can’t pick just one, I would like to travel the world and work from many different countries.
