Getting to know our team: Charlotte Tabouelle Roulet

We spoke to our Sales Consultant, Charlotte Tabouelle Roulet about her experience working for Crown Relocations and her top tips to help you plan your next international move.

How long have you worked at Crown?

I have worked at Crown for over five years, originally joining as a Junior Move Coordinator in 2016.

Can you explain more about your role as a sales consultant?

As sales consultant my role is to help customers plan and execute their moves. A big part of this is evaluating the volumes of goods they wish to transport and consider practicalities such as access to properties and which vehicles and crew would be best suited.

Another essential element to my role is liaising with customers all the way through the move process. They are trusting us with their possessions, some of which may be extremely valuable from a sentimental or monetary perspective. So, we need to give them the confidence that we are doing a good job.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy my role as sales consultant because I get to meet new people from all over the world and support them in their next adventure!

What has been the most memorable move you supported?

One my most memorable moves was a lovely lady in later life, who was moving her household back to France after losing her husband. All her family lived in France and she wanted to be closer to them. She had a number of collection addresses and a lot of goods, so we carried out the move in three stages spread over two years. The customer was very happy and I was so pleased we could help her.

What was the most challenging and how did you overcome them?

Sometimes we are asked to carry out moves at short notice, which can be challenging in the high season (May to September), due to the demand for move crews and vehicles. Where possible, we strive to accommodate these requests.

What is your top tip for a stress-free move?

My top tip is to plan effectively - the earlier the better, especially during high season. Being organised, for instance with decluttering, booking a survey and pinpointing moving dates, means you won’t be rushing to do things at the last minute when timings are critical. This makes a huge difference in helping to minimise stress levels.

What do customers not often think about when planning their move? What would be your top tip for a smooth relocation?

People tend to hang on to items they do not need or no longer use. Some of these have sentimental value but a great many others do not. The average person accumulates around 1 m3 of goods per year, which soon adds up. For a smooth relocation declutter your home before moving, it will reduce transport volumes and therefore costs.

What has been the most unusual move request to come through?

This was from a customer who wanted the crew to put back the books in her library exactly as they were arranged at origin.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love to travel and cook! I come from an expatriate family so travelling is in my DNA. I’ve lived in five countries so far: the USA, UK, South Korea, France and now Switzerland. I have always been curious about the local cuisines and this has made me fond of lots of different cooking styles, which I love to experiment with at home.

If you didn’t live in Switzerland, what would be your dream destination?

If I wasn’t living in Switzerland I would love to live in Canada or the UK again, but these countries are a little too far away from my home base now. I wouldn’t say no to living in South Korea again either!
