Lower School & Middle School Curriculum at ACS International Schools:

ACS Cobham & ACS Hillingdon offer a well-rounded international curriculum that emphasises intellectual challenge and encourages ACS students to make connections between their learning and the real world. Being a leading UK independent school, both Cobham & Hillingdon use the expertise and internationalism of the staff, the community and the curriculum to prepare ACS students for whatever comes next.

ACS Egham & ACS Doha both offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) and the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme for all lower and middle school students. The enquiry based curriculum activates critical thinking and challenges students to ask questions and reflect on their individual learning.

ACS Egham & ACS Doha offer all four International Baccalaureate Programmes:
  • IB Primary Years Programme (IBPYP)
  • IB Middle Years Programme (IBMYP)
  • IB Career-related Programme (IBCP)
  • IB Diploma Programme (IBDP)

ACS Cobham and ACS Hillingdon offer the IBDP and IBCP as well as the Advanced Placement Programme (AP) and US High School Diploma, delivering a broad and flexible curriculum which can be tailored to the needs and interests of ACS students.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP)

College Board Advanced Placement Programme® (AP) enables academically prepared students looking pursue college-level studies while still in high school. AP courses are fully recognised in the Unites States of America and Canada, where approximately 3,000 colleges and universities take part. Most of these universities, that receive AP grades, grant credit or advanced placement for successful examination results.

In addition, any High School students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their AP examinations, an AP Programme Award is granted.
This course requires students to display mastery on AP Exams across several disciplines and represents an exceptional level of achievement.

Earning scores of 3 or higher, on five or more total AP Exams is an obligation, allowing students to demonstrate that they have exceeded most university entry requirements. Students AP Exam scores are considered by the most competitive scholarship awards. Many universities also use AP Exam scores to place students into honours classes.

The only school in Europe, this Crown Recommended Partner is one of the first international schools around the world to offer this programme. AP Capstone is built on the foundation of a new, two-year High School course sequence:

  • AP Seminar
  • AP Research 

Designed to complement and enhance the discipline-specific study provided through AP courses, preparing scholars to make logical, evidence-based decisions.

Combining scholarly practice with academic intensity, the AP Capstone is developed in response to feedback from higher education. The two AP Capstone courses complement the rigour of AP courses and exams, they equip students with the ability to analyse and evaluate information to craft and communicate evidence-based arguments accurately and precisely.
