I want my child to get the most out of our stay in this country. Are there any specific opportunities to teach young people about the local culture?
Ghana has a rich and vibrant culture to be enjoyed by all ages. There are three distinct types of music: ethnic or traditional music, normally played during festivals; "highlife" music, a blend of traditional and ‘imported’ music; and choral music, which is performed in concert halls, churches, schools and colleges. Each ethnic group also has their own traditional dances with different dances for different occasions, such as celebrations, storytelling, praise and worship.

PANAFEST
Every two years, the Pan African Historical Theatre Project holds PANAFEST, a festival held in celebration of African culture and the achievements of the people. There are performances and work in the areas of theatre, drama, music and poetry.

Homowo Festival
This harvest festival is celebrated by the Ga people from the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. It begins with the sowing of millet by the traditional priests in May. After this, a thirty-day ban on drumming is imposed on the land by the priests.
